Who we are
A small team that takes on big problems
Mustang Machines & Labour is a Sydney earthworks contractor. We have been in the industry for about 25 years, working for head contractors, civil builders, plumbers, landscapers and homeowners.
We are deliberately small. That means the people who quote your job are the people who turn up to it, and you are not dealing with a call centre when something changes on site.
It also means we choose our work. We will happily do the straightforward jobs — but the ones we actively want are the awkward ones: tight access, difficult design, live sites, tricky ground.
An engineer on the tools, not just in the office
Jorge Packer is a qualified civil engineer as well as a director of the business. That is unusual for a company our size, and it is the reason we are comfortable being handed a set of drawings, a survey and a difficult site — and telling you honestly whether what has been designed will actually work on the ground.
How we work
No surprises, no chasing
We know how much of your time is spent managing other people's problems. We try hard not to be one of them.
Machines arrive when we say they will. Operators hold the tickets they need. Insurances, SWMS and inductions are done before the day, not on the morning of the dig. If something on site is not going to work, you hear it from us early rather than in an invoice later.
We have worked for leading construction companies including John Holland, Cherrie Civil and Taylor, alongside a long list of plumbers, landscapers and builders who keep calling us back.

Common questions
Things people ask us
If there is something else you would like to know, give us a call — we are happy to talk a job through before you commit to anything.
Do you work on hourly rates?
Yes, for both equipment and skilled labour. We also price jobs as a lump sum where that suits you better. Get in touch for current rates.
Do you have insurance for bigger projects?
Yes. We hold public liability to $20 million and workers compensation. Certificates of currency are available on request, before you need them.
Which areas do you cover?
All of greater Sydney — from the Northern Beaches to Sutherland, and out to Campbelltown and Penrith.
How tight an access can you get into?
Our smallest machine is a 1.7 tonne mini that will fit through a standard gateway. Send us a photo of the access and we will tell you straight away whether it can be done.
Wet hire or dry hire?
Either. Take the machine with our operator, or on its own if you have your own ticketed people.
Can you get plant you do not own?
Yes. Tippers, dumpers, skid steers, posi-tracks and trucks of all sizes come through partners we have used for years. Ask for what you need.
